About the artist
Bio...Ashley Byers started recreating the most vivid images she had from chilhood using old pictures of her and her sister, fabric from old clothes, doodles, stained fabricto emphasize the hazy qualities of remembrance, and adding patches of fabric that represent the different pieces of her history. Ashley's patchwork paintings are about conscientiously placing her present thoughts in with her memories of childhood. By doing so, she's exploring and discovering that her childhood has affected how she is today and also that the person she is affects and changes her memories. Ashley Bryers is a Springfield native. She's been painting since she was three and will get a BFA in Painting in the spring of 2011. She's hoping to attend graduate school in the fall of 2012 somewhere in the great Midwest.
